Can you believe it’s already April? The 15 May deadline is creeping up fast, so now’s the time to stay sharp and get things moving.
Expect a few delays in responses as things ramp up. I’ve outlined below how to get your tax returns and BAS done faster (and with less back-and-forth).
There are also some updates to processes and a couple of quick reminders to keep you on track.
Let's get into it!
Process Updates - Schedules
Updated Workpapers and Schedules
We’ve made a few updates to the Xero workpapers and some of the schedules to make tax return prep (and our review) a whole lot smoother.
You’ll notice things are more broken down now. Yes, it might look like more work, but really it’s just cleaner data entry - no more guessing or recalculating stuff that should be simple.
This means fewer mistakes, faster feedback, and better results for everyone.
Heads up: The Business Schedule is only needed if your client isn’t using Xero, so if they’re working off spreadsheets or something else, that’s when you use it.
You can find the links to the schedules in the updated Xero Workpapers and below:
We also have courses coming out for the above, and for Activity Statements. Its all recorded, I just need to get it up on the LMS and invite you in.
Facebook Group
Facebook Group is Here
The Facebook group is up and running. A big thanks to those who’ve already jumped in.
If you haven’t joined yet, do it. This group is here so you can ask questions, swap ideas, and get support from others in the program (who are likely dealing with the same stuff as you).
You’ll be surprised how much you know just by jumping in and helping someone else out. That’s where the real learning happens; doing the work and teaching it.
Once you're in, make sure you post a quick intro so we know who you are and what you’re working on. That way, we’re not just names in a list; we’re a proper crew.
Make sure you introduce yourself so everyone gets to know you.
I haven’t heard much from some of you lately, which is a bit disappointing.
Just a reminder: it’s not just tax time, it’s BAS time too.
Here are the key deadlines:
28 April – Super contributions due
15 May – Tax returns due
21 May – IAS due
25 May – BAS due
As I’ve said a hundred times: the earlier you get things in, the faster it gets done. Just like school assignments; the longer you leave it, the longer it drags out.
If you want your returns and BAS lodged on time (without endless back and forth), make sure:
All workpapers are filled out properly, including the updated schedules
If something doesn’t apply, leave a comment or review note - don’t just skip it.
If we see blank workpapers with no explanation, we’ll send it back. That means delays - and we’re not chasing people during deadline season.
