Amending a Return in Xero Practice Manager
At times you will need to amend a Tax Return, Activity Statement or other returns.
When amending, we cannot simply lodge the return again. We need to amend the return. If we don't amend the return, the ATO will reject it as they can see there is already a lodge return.
To amend a return:
- Open the lodged return
- Click on the 3 dots at the top right
- Click amend
- Complete the return as per the normal process

How to lodge when the original return was lodged by someone else?
To amend a return where it was lodged by another party, we need to recreate the original return.
To recreate the original return:
- Download the original return form the ATo portal, or get the signed return
- Add a new Job to XPM
- Manually Create the return against the job
- Replicate the return
- Validate the Return
- Take the return to Signed
- Mark the return as Filed
- Follow the steps above
