Welcome to the March 2025 newsletter! Where is the year going? This raises a rather pertinent point - May 15 is almost upon us!
There are also some updates to the processes and a few reminders.
Also, I have started a podcast all about your journey and what you are now doing. This can be a great marketing opportunity and you can share your insights to your audience. Let me know if you would like to be involved!
Let's get into it!
Refunds - Proof of Account
All refunds Must Have Proof of Ownership of the Bank Account
Recently, we encountered an unfortunate situation where a client’s refund was deposited into the wrong account. While this wasn’t due to an error on our end, since the account details were provided by the client and every tax return includes an electronic funds transfer consent section, it’s a good reminder for all of us to take extra precautions.
Double-checking details before lodgement can help prevent these situations and ensure smooth processing for our clients.
The new Process:
When a tax return includes a refund, a copy of the client’s bank statement must be uploaded to the Client Workpaper.
The statement must show the client’s full name, address, and account number, matching the details in the tax return.
Tax returns with refunds will only be lodged once the bank statement is attached.
Facebook Group
Facebook Group is Here
It's finally here. I've been promising this one for a while. I have set up a Facebook group so you can all get to know each other, and reach out to others for support.
I highly recommend getting involved. You might get your answer quicker and teaching helps with your learning (trust me, I do this everyday!)
Scan the QR code above and get access. If this doesn't work, let me know.
May 15 is fast coming. It always comes around much quicker than your think! It happens every year, you think you have time, and next thing May is here.
If you have clients with tax returns coming up due, its best to jump on it now. Don't wait until the last minute! I cannot guarantee that they will be lodged on time if you give them to me in May. This can lead to fines and very unhappy clients.
